what happened on May 21st, 2011.

I woke up on May 21st around 6ish (late I know. Had a late night, what can I say) and instantly looked out my window. I don't know what I was expecting. Zombies roaming the street, aliens abducting innocent people, or perhaps Jesus himself. However, there was nothing. Cars zipped by; birds sang their lovely yet annoying songs, and the sun beat down up on us.

And then i lay back down in bed and grabbed my iPhone. I scanned through CNN, Yahoo, and the New York Times for breaking news alerting us of the worlds end. But there was nothing. No apocalypse. no return of Jesus. Definitely no news of destructive earthquakes. Although there was a small volcanic eruption in Iceland, it was not as big as Harold Camping had predicted. Mountain Eyjafjallajokull (yes, that’s its name) was simply a fart on face of earth. Update about the sexual terminator-i mean mr. Schwarzenegger's life and his love child was the only news people were mentioning.

To be honest, when Harold Camping said the world was going to end on May 21st, i was a bit skeptical. At the same time i was scared. I instantly thought of all the things i hadn’t done. i still hadn't gone sky-diving. i hadn’t gotten the chance to see my best friends baby girl. And most importantly, i hadn't had my 15 minutes of fame. It was like tug of war. One part of me did not want to believe it, while the other part was scared. i guess that’s human nature. We are naturally scared of chaos, disasters and death. The vulnerability of a human life never comes up until something bad happens. Just like death. We don’t realize how final it is until we are standing on its door steps.

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

The good.
I was surprised to see that at this years Oscars, there weren't a lot of mishaps. Every year there is always a handful of stars who daringly step out of thier fashionable zones only to appear looking akward in the spotlight. Surprisingly, this year most starlets dressed to the nines. For example, Sarah Jessica Parker. I loved her gorgeous yellow Chanel couture gown. It was utterly fashionable and glamorous. Just loved it.

The bad.
That boy. If you are on polyvore, or have me as a friend on facebook you might have seen my rambling about a guy. The thing is, he's cute and smart AND a player. Ugh. It's a delicious combo and I can't help myself. Well he's being all hot and cold. God help me.

The ugly.
One word. Weather!! Ugh, Houston bipolar weather strikes again. Just when I was about to pack away my wool coats and cashmere sweaters, and pull out my summer dresses, it's freezing all over again. I have no picture for this.

Mar.20.2010

I know I have been MIA for a while but I have legible excuses for my absense.
1) my iPhone broke. I depend on my iPhone like one depends on Coffee. One needs it to fuel thier life.
2) this semster has been more then hectic. I have been so busy with paperwork I have had no time for my life.
3) i was too busy chasing that adorable boy. Dont ask.

But now I am back so let the blogging begin. Last week I was really happy because the weather was finally looking up. But today I woke up to a grey and angry sky. The weather can literlly mess up my mood. And then I was on polyvore making a set and I saw this utterly gorgeous picture of the streets of New York and I just wanted to cry. I love spring time in New York. The flowers start blooming and everyone packs thier coats up and stuffs em at the back of thier closet. And then emerges the beautiful wardrobe of the fashion fanatics. Ahhh the perkys of New York.

DEC.30.2009

I don’t think this person requires an introduction. However for those of you who have been living under a rock this is Carine Roitfeld. If however, you still can’t recall who she is, do the words glamazaon, the French Anne Wintour, cold hearted fashion bitch, and style extraordinaire ring a bell? Carine Roitfeld is after all the lady who marches through Paris in Yves Saint Laurent pumps creating the next big look. Her style is something I have always admired. Perhaps it is the tendency that she has to stick with neutrals, rather then opting for brighter colors. Or perhaps it is her chic, classic style which has the defined the Parisian look. Sometimes she also sports the Paris street style look which is the reason for her continues appearance on blogs such as jak&jil. Nevertheless whatever it is, I love, as you may have guessed, her style. Wearing black all the time isn’t hard; as a matter of fact most people do follow this trend. But the ability to wear black with coquettish elegance is a talent many people cannot attain. No wonder she is the editor-in-chief of French Vogue. 2010 will mark her 10th anniversary as the editor.

YES! YES! YES! NO!

So from now on i will be doing weekly yes! yes! yes! no! here goes the first one.

the first yes in none other than the ever fabulous Chanel Iman. I effing love what she is wearing here. I know it is winter and this wont work in cities such as Manhatten or Torronto, but its worth a try. the city bag looks gorgeous as ever.

the second yes goes to the lovely Robert Pattinson. (not edwrad cullen. ugh gag.) his suit is clean cut and for once he looks human and not like some sleep deprived crack whore.

Zoe Kazan. Lovely. like an angel. yes. yes. yes. effing gorgeous dress. enough said.

At first i was like whose that old man. and then i realized that it is the ever-so-sexy-but-not-sexy-anymore Brad Pitt. What happened to him? did someone hit me on the head and did i fall into coma. and now that i am awake Brad is some hideous old man. jesus, what did Angelina do to him?!? hes a definite no.

and thats all for this week kids.
ciao darlings,

Headbands

i first fell in love with headbands when i used to watch that show called Madeline. I would think, wow that girls hair looks really pretty captured under that simple headband. As i grew up my love for headbands wavered but nevertheless it stayed. so two years ago when Blair Waldorf was introduced, the craze for the headbands went over the ledge. here are some of my favorite looks.

I Love this headband. It screams glamour and looks absolutely chic. you have to hand it to Eric Daman (gossip girl costume designer) for pairing the perfect headband with Blairs perfect doll-like dresses.

The beaded headband. gah, what can i say about this? actually what can i NOT say about this. its gorgeous. if your headed to some last summer BBQ's wear this headband with a maxi dress. everybody will remmeber you as the girl with the gorgoeus outfit.

Very hippie, very relaxed and VERY fun.

All hail to hippie queen Nicole. i la-la-LOVE this style. I tried this style the other day, but the chains kept falling down. and the overall look was very lopisside. not attactive at all. if you going to wear this look have someone else do it for you.

Table Books

We all have our favorite books, but what about table books? Aren't the fun? i mean all of the glamorously chic pictures which can inspire even the most uninspired person.

this one is a classic. it has pictures by some of the most noted photographers from around the fashion world.

You have followed his blog, copied his pictures, and now you can have his book. yup the sartorialist is out with a book. YAY. i am actually really excited that this book is out. cant wait to get my hands on a copy when i have time to make a trip down to Barnes and Noble.
A know how to careers in the fashion world. a must for every girl (and guy) who plans to throw her (him) self into the hands of the devil. HA.
how can you NOT like this book? i mean come on, need i say more?

when i was little my parents helped stimulate my brain by showing me Louis Vuitton monograms. LOL. the other ones (the black and white polka dots brain stimulator's) are very nauseating. do you get what i am trying to say here?

The true fashionistas of the world. well there are other girls, but these two have been working since they were in their diapers. did you know New York magazine named MK as one of the most powerful women in Hollywood? wow.
